Sculpture

Michael Rothschild sculpts a large variety of hardwoods, most from the hill region in western Maine where he lives: rock maple, apple, pear, cherry, butternut. He also works in stone - black slate, serpentine, limestone, and granite. He has carved bone and antler and done large repousse work in thick lead sheets. Although most of his sculptures are made from a single log or stone, several are assemblages of wood/steel/bone, lead and stone.
